From: Steve Bridges <steve@lawday.daytonoh.ncr.com> I read in the local newspaper last week that the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will be receiving a F-117 Stealth Fighter for permanent display. According to the article, the airplane will be flown into the museum and placed on static display outside the museum for one day, then taken to the restoration facility where pyrotechnic devices and classifed equipment will be removed. The airplane will then be placed on permanent display in the Modern Flight Gallery. The reason that the museum is getting the F-117 is that this particular airplane was a prototype, and according to the article, it would be less expensive to buy a production model rather than to re-fit the prototype up to production specifications. The F-117 should arrive in time to be put on display for the Dayton International Air Show (July 20-21). As I find out more information, I will post it. -- Steve Bridges, Programmer/Analyst| NCR - Law Department, WHQ-5 Steve.Bridges@DaytonOH.NCR.COM | Phone:(513)-445-4486 622-4486 (VOICEplus) ...!ncrcom!ciss!lawday!steve | AOPA #916233 ...!uunet!ncrcom!ciss!lawday!steve| PP-ASEL, AMEL (I want a P-38 type rating)
