The gas spends a LONG time in the stomach before the body passes it. What happens is there are low level fumes that are constantly in every breath you take for a number of hours after swallowing the gas that irritate the lungs incredibly. It's no picnic, I had it durring the one embargo when I tried to get a siphon started to borrow some gas from a friends car. If you do swallow gas, get to a doctor! It doesn't take much, I swallowed about 1 1/2 oz max and it was enough to do me in for over 2 weeks. mikey at trsvax
