[ Can inews be told, preferably by a header line of some sort, to mail a copy to someone, in addition to posting, or am I wishing for too much? ] I once had all locally generated, outgoing articles mailed to the usenet id. Recently this stoped working properly. I diddn't really notice until today, when I was cleaning out usenet's mailbox. None of the articles I posted to tor.test yesterday were mailed by either control line as I had expected. However my tor.news.stats posting was mailed, by the 'usenet2' line, as expected: Dec 24 00:19:16.000 robohack + <1989Dec24.051823.14625@robohack.UUCP> druid eci386 ecicrl nebulus telly tmsoft usenet2 It seems to me that this behavior started after I discovered that it was indeed dangerous to use the libstdio stuff on my 3B2 (when expire was mis-behaving, I decided to run the regression tests, which promptly failed). Once I had re-linked everything without the libstdio stuff, expire worked fine, though relaynews seemed a bit slower (1-2 art/s, down from 2-3 art/s, both with the new dbz). I don't know if it is indeed this time at which the mail stopped, as I have been tuning the sys file at the same time. I haven't made any changes to the 'usenet' line however. # # sys - USENET system control file # # line indicating what we are willing to receive # # ME:all,\ !ca,\ !soc.culture,\ !talk,\ !bionet,\ !vmsnet,\ !comp.binaries,\ !comp.os.vms,\ !comp.os.cpm,\ !eci.service,\ !eci.systems,\ to/all:: # Partial feeds # eci386:biz,u3b/all,!local:f: # local-postings-only feed direct neighboring sites (gets them out fast) # druid/druid,nebulus,tmsoft:all,\ !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.druid/all,!eci,!local:fL3: eci386/eci386,ecicrl,ecijmm:all,\ !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.eci386/all,!eci,!local:fL3: ecicrl/eci386,ecicrl,ecijmm:all,\ !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.ecicrl/all,!eci,!local:fL3: #ecijmm/eci386,ecicrl,ecijmm:all,\ # !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.ecijmm/all,!eci,!local:fL3: nebulus/druid,nebulus,telly,tmsoft:all,\ !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.nebulus/all,!eci,!local:fL3: telly/eci386,nebulus,telly:all,\ !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.telly/all,!eci,!local:fL3: tmsoft/nebulus,tmsoft:all,\ !mail,!eci,!ersa,!to,to.tmsoft/all,!eci,!local:fL3: # # fakesite's - these are used to simplify maintenance and administration # # save all the map article pathnames (as a normal outgoing batch) # maps:comp.mail.maps/all:f:/usr/local/lib/smail/maps.new # save the article ID's of all locally generated articles # out:all,!tor.news.stats,!mail,!control/all:IL:/usr/spool/news/out.going/out.going # mail a copy of local articles to the Usenet Administrator # usenet:all,!tor.news.stats,!control,!mail/all:L:mush -s "Posted Article" usenet usenet2:all/all:L:mush -s "Posted Article" usenet #[several comment lines removed] -- Greg A.
