[net.auto] Radar jammers for sale; dead drivers in the fast lane...

davidl@tekig.UUCP (David Levadie) (06/20/84)

A reasonably reputable source told me the other day that some company
is selling a device that will BROADCAST whatever speed you want the
ossifer's radar to read out, into his/her/its radar unit. Supposedly
they have ads in some motorhead magazines, with a disclaimer saying,
Not Legal In The U.S., etc. Has anybody actually seen such an ad? or
better yet, such a unit?

I know there's a company in my area advertising PLANS for such a unit -
in fact, I bootlegged a copy of them the other day and they look Feasible.
LOOK feasible. They (plans) are essentially for a radar transmitter which
will befoozle a radar into reading out a lower speed. Included is a little
section on an Escort interface option which enables you to use your Escort
to trigger the transmitter, and voids the hell out of your warranty, no
doubt.

Oh yeah - and this unit is supposed to have a Knob and Readout so you can
dial in exactly the speed you want the piggie radar to read out!

I find it difficult to believe that radar units have such similarity in
their detection/measurement technique that a single unit could uniformly
confusify ALL of them. Furtherless, doing it on both X and K band is
a feat worth of God.

?

Oh yeah - you dead people in the fast lane - I'm not going to bother
with any stupid circus searchlight, slime bucket. I'm going to mount
a 2000 watt CO2 laser up front someplace and burn a ring around your tire.
That ought to wake you up out of your Quaaaaalude stupor.

(Note - as a charitable gesture, I'll burn the Marriage Encounter sticker
off the back window of your Wabbit first, for a warning shot.)
