Hello! This is turning into an interesting discussion. I too have already replaced one water pump(1980 Accord) at approximately 30,000 miles. I'm right at 60,000 and it's starting to make that noise again. Does anyone else out there in Netland think this could be a problem for Hondas in general? If so, is there any way to take this up with the Honda Mfg.s? Other than the water pump this car has performed perfectly and is holding up to several kids and multiple pups.

My brother's 1976 Civic CVCC also ate water pumps on schedule although I think his were closer to being 25,000 miles apart. After the second one, his mechanic replaced it with an after market pump which was substantially beefier, albiet at twice the cost. He claimed that it was "the last pump your car will ever need". If anyone's interested I'll try to get more info on the pump. Be paitent, though. I'm going out of town all next week and won't be able to answer my "mail" -- Jack Hagerty, Zehntel Inc. !inhp4!zehntel!jackh PS The pump's still doing fine with nearly 100k on the car. It's lasted longer than the first two put together.
