[comp.org.ieee] Is anybody out there?

mazzara@nprdc.arpa (Maria Mazzara) (07/21/89)

I am partially writing in response to Jim Hughes' question about
whether anybody from IEEE is listening....
I am student editor of *Potentials* Magazine (THE IEEE student
publication)...and I just thought I would let you know that, in fact,
nobody at IEEE can listen - they are still using some archaic
communications package. They are, however, in the process of
"updating." This could(?) mean a real live network connection!
But far be it from me to presume that the largest technical
organization in the world would have such state-of-the-art abilities.
   :-)

Anyway...while I'm here, I figured I would take the opportunity of
having international attention to ask for comments and suggestions
for articles for *Potentials* (have all of you heard of this
student publication?). We are interested in everything from
brain teasers for The Gamesman to "cutting edge" technical articles
to input for my editorial :-) on the importance of social conciousness
for EEs. I am trying to stress active participation in society
at different levels (ie. undergrad, grad, doc, post-doc, post-insanity).
If you have any ideas about anything (preferably pertaining to the mag),
   please let me know.

                           Thanks for your time.
                                Maria
