    ********************************************************
    * Distributed and Integrated Applications Processing *
    *               Architectures and Models               *
    ********************************************************

Example Topics:

* Sun's NFS, RPCs and ONCE
* OSF standards in distributed processing.
* Apollo's NCS and evolving distributed processing strategy.
* HP's NewWave and distributed processing architectures.
* API's XVT virtual windows programming interface system.
* Novell's approach to distributed applications.
*    Oracle's distributed processing architectures.
*    Unisys/Convergent Tech's approach to distributed processing.
* Digital's DECwindows, EMA (Enterprise Management Architec-
     ture), AIA (Application Integration Architecture), RPCs
     (Remote Procedure Calls), Distributed Name, Print, Queue,
     etc. Services.
*    AT&T AOE, etc.
* Distributed aspects of an object management system.
* The four (_n_?) issues of distributed and applications
     integration architectures:
     >    Extent of integration.
     >    Extent of portability.
     >    Extent of interoperability.
     >    Extensibility.
*    3COM's distributed processing approach.
* Microsoft's approach to distributed processing.
* IBM's SAA and distributed processing architectures.
* Apple's approaches to windowing, distributed processing and
     APIs.
* Next's windows and distributed processing environment.

We are looking for:

* Technical talks presented by expert presenters (architect/de-
     signer) at a conceptual (not bits and bytes) level. While
     the talks should be by engineers for engineers, advantage and
     benefit analysis is desireable.
*    Suggested missing topics.
*    Volunteer speakers.
* Suggested missing companies or architectures.
* Email contacts at the various companies representative of
     distributed processing approaches and architectures. We have
     yet to get contact for announcement distribution from:
     >    Sanders.
     >    Kohlsman.
     >    Bull.
     >    DG.
     >    Prophecy Development Corp.
     >    Stratus.
     >    Wang.
     >    University of Lowell.
     >    Nynex development.
     >    AT&T Bell Labs, Andover.
     >    Lotus Development.
     >    Who else?

* Suggestions and critique on the theme and overall plan.
* IEEE and Computer Society volunteers to help with arrange-
     ments and distribution.

Talk format: 1 - 1.5 hours with .5 to 1 hours for discussion.
Talks would start at 7:30 PM. Talks would be held once a month
or at most every three weeks at:
