Does anybody have any suggestions/complaints about IEEE ICASSP (International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing)? I'm on the organizing committee for the 1992 ICASSP (yes, '92, we started work on this about a year ago.) We'd like to hear any comments, complaints or suggestions you might have. Somebody on the net has already suggested bigger print on the name tags and that is on the list. Anything else? We know that the poster session at the 1988 ICASSP in NY was too packed. One of our committee members is lobbying for better coffee. We've tried to figure out a way to get better presentations but haven't really come up with any ideas. (We've talked about giving people the hook if they use more than four equations but then somebody else pointed out that some people don't think it has any technical content unless it has equations.) So how about it? ICASSP is approaching a 2000 person per year conference and we are anxious to do this one right. What do you think? Are the prices too high? The food not good? What do you like about the banquets? Are there too many sessions? Too many papers? Too many people? Cheers. Malcolm Slaney malcolm@apple.com
