[comp.lang.eiffel] Telecom companies using Eiffel?

uucibg@swbatl.UUCP (3929) (11/17/89)

I'd like to bring Eiffel in-house for an evaluation. Unfortunately, ISE
wants $300 bucks for it. Management here is of the general opinion that
an evaluation copy should be free (and I tend to agree with them, but that's
another bone to chew...it's not the $300 but the attitude). We are
supposed to be evaluating OO development environments to be able to render
an opinion for the rest of the subsidiaries of Southwestern Bell Corp. However,
that mostly means the phone company at this point in time, since they are the
one subsidiary doing the majority of the programming within the corp.

I might be inclinded to bend the unspoken rules if I could see that there are
other telecom companies looking into and/or using Eiffel. If not, then it looks
like a (possibly superior) development environment will have to go the wayside
because they charge for an evaluation copy. Sigh.

Thanks,
