We purchased Eiffel (V2.2) last fall, and have been using it as one of several object oriented languages in two seminars we're running this term (one undergraduate, one for MS. students). A conversation a couple of minutes ago with a graduate student quickly uncovered some strangeness in both the code we have installed and in the documentation we received. I'm putting this out on the net to see if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them. 1. We have two distinct versions of "Eiffel: The Libraries". The one I got at the time of delivery is quite thin, and does not include any descriptions of the parsing or winpack libraries. However, my colleague teaching the graduate course picked up a copy that was much thicker and *did* contain the descriptions of these libraries. Both state on the copyright page that they are for V2.2 -- did anyone else experience this? 2. The reason I discovered the discrepancy is that a graduate student asked me a question about class BASIC which is described on page 49 of the big book, but isn't in my version at all. She wanted to do some conversions from REAL to INTEGER based on this class's services, but we can't find the class anywhere (and we have licenses for both Suns and AT&T 386 boxes). Does anyone out there have class BASIC? Sorry to clutter up an otherwise excellent technical group with such questions, but we're wondering if anything else is missing or out of date.
