<> Does anyone have any kind of a list that tells which major brands of gas have methanol in them, and which ones do not? I am surprised to learn that Amoco is using Methanol in their premium unleaded, I have been using it because I thought it was a high-quality gasoline that did not use any of the cheap in- gredients found in other brands of gas...Perhaps this has changed? -- Call-Me: Dennis Gibbs, Univ. of Md. Dennis Gibbs suggests that methanol is a cheap ingredient - in a recent article on NPR (All Things Considered) they said that alcohol was a rather expensive anti-knock ingredient. I'm not clear as to whether we are talking about methanol or ethanol here, but presumably the manufacturing costs are similar. (Don't we use methanol to keep the fuel dry in midwinter?) marcus hand (pyuxt!marcus)
