Santa Barbara, September 25, 1990 Interactive is currently porting Eiffel 2.3 Beta to the new IBM 6000 RISC machine, which it received from IBM on Monday, September 24, 1990. As mentioned in an earlier posting by Dr. Bertrand Meyer, President of Interactive, it is anticipated that initial internal port will be finished on October 1, 1990, after which there will be a short beta-testing period. Our early experience with this machine indicates that there will be no difficulties with the port. Indeed, the execution of Eiffel on the IBM 6000 RISC is impressively fast. We expect that Eiffel 2.3 on the IBM 6000 RISC (as well as other supported machines) will be available around the OOPSLA/ECOOP conference in late October.
