Earlier in the week, I posted a plea for help with my '83 Turbo. After filling up at a tourist-country gas station, the car began to miss at high speed, and the fuel pump got very loud. As promised, here is the summary of advice received: Majority opinion (5/7): Bad gas caused a fuel filter blockage. Minority opinion (2/7): Fuel pump is dying. I can't face the thought of replacing the fuel pump in a car with <20,000 miles, so I think I'll cough up $20 for a fuel filter and keep my fingers crossed. Almost everyone who responded said that Saab recommends against using gasohol, but my owner's manual says that ethanol additives are OK. (I guess methanol is a no-no, but I don't think I've ever used it...) Saab does state that switching to gasohol after using regular unleaded may necessitate changing the fuel filter. Thanks to all who responded, and I'll post my results if anything dramatic happens! Regards, DJ Molny ihnp4!wnuxb!djmolny
