[comp.lang.sigplan] 3rd Database Programming Language Workshop

pck@cs.brown.edu (Paris Kanellakis) (12/10/90)

                         Call for Papers

                 Third International Workshop on
                 Database Programming Languages

                        August 27 - 30, 1991
                         in Nafplion Greece

The third International Workshop on Database Programming Languages (DBPL-3)
will take place in Nafplion Greece, August 27 - 30, 1991. These dates are just
before the VLDB-91 conference, to be held in Barcelona Spain, September 3 - 6.

The workshop will focus on the development of novel programming languages and
environments for databases and data-intensive applications.

The areas of interest and the format of DBPL-3 continue in the tradition of its
predecessors: Roscoff France (September 1987) and Salishan Oregon USA
(June 1989). The meeting will be small and informal, providing forums for
prepared presentations, panels, and discussions. Participation will be
by invitation of the program committee and will be restricted primarily to
authors of accepted papers.

The committee now solicits papers describing preliminary as well as
completed research on themes related to database programming languages.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to,
   data modeling: object-oriented, logical, functional
typing: type inference, inheritance, bulk types
   language technology: naming, binding, reflection
dynamic aspects: updates, temporal databases, schema evolution
system implementation: persistence, modularization, architectural issues
   optimization aspects: query processing, compilation
transaction management: concurrency, recovery, active databases
user interfaces, database programming language environments
   new database applications, heterogeneous databases

Authors are invited to submit ten copies of an extended abstract (not
exceeding ten pages) by March 11, 1991 to one of the program co-chairmen:
