Mushroom cultivation certainly fits very well as a discussion
topic in Bioconversion.

I met one of the organizers of the forthcoming international
symposium on mushroom technology (China, Nov.1989) in Hong Kong
last year where we also discussed the possibility of creating
a mushroom electronic forum and on how to generate an interest
amongst the "mushroom people" to use email. I hope BIOCONVERSION
could serve as a fore-runner for the mushroom people. Mushroom
cultivation is gaining popularity in Scandinavia recently and
I hear that the Finns are taking the lead too.

In South-East Asia, oyster mushroom and straw mushroom cultivation
are most popular since they use local substrates like saw dust
and paddy straw, both are tropical mushrooms .

Could you (Timo Harmo) give us a short intro on commercial mushroom
grown in Scandinavia ?? Thanks.
