[net.auto] Falling Rear-view Mirrors

onnen@stolaf.UUCP (Paul Onnen) (07/23/84)

My car has an inside rear-view mirror that was, until yesterday, fastened
to the windshield with some sort of glue. Does anyone know what type of
cement auto manufacturers use to attach these things? Can I buy it in stores
and do the job myself to save $$, or do I have to go to my friendly
neighboer car-dealer? BTW, my car (read tank) is a '71 BelAir. Thanks in
advance!

Yes, you *can* buy the adhesive - it's called "Mirror and Trim Adhesive", or
something like that. Any auto parts store would have it; the better-stocked
auto depts. of department stores often do. As I recall, it's a two-part
adhesive - somewhat like epoxy only much thinner.
