European Cooperative Networks on Rural Energy.

The main objectives of the European Cooperative Networks on Rural
Energy (CNRE) are :
- to promote the more efficient use of traditional energy sources
  in agricultural production
- to increase the share of new and renewable sources of energy
  for and from rural sectors

CNRE comprises of 7 networks and 21 working groups where more
that 200 scientific institutions from 25 countries cooperate
in :
- the organization of systematic exchange of scientific information
  research and development experiences among European and interested
  developing countries
- the selection of well defined research topics of mutua| interest
  to carry out joint research programmes with the participation
  of interested countries and scientific institutions
- the collection and analysis of the results of national research
  programmes to prepare recommendations for the development of
  new energy technologies
- the establishment and testing of experimental technologies
  to promote the practical application of new and renewable energy
  resources.

The programe is also intended to benefit developing countries
through the exchange of scientific information, transfer of appropriate
and reasonable energy technologies; and the organization pf professional
training courses in European countries for experts from developing
countries.
