ENEA is involved in a variety of activities related to the Energy
production from Biomass (solid, liquid, gaseous fuels and conversion
to chemical products as substitutes for other petroleum based
products).

ENEA is active -
- in the field of technological research, for the purpose of
  increasing the efficiency and economic advantages of processes
  for converting biomass into energy-products
- in the field of industrial promotions, to enable Italian industry
  to overcome onstacles to the industrialization and marketing
  of the various systems, components and products of concern
  to this specific field
- in the field of demonstration for the diffusion of technologies
  which have already been tested but are insufficiently known
- in the field of economic and environmental studies on the
  implications of the energy uses of biomass.

ENEA also plays an active part in the programmes of the European
Economic Community.
