/***** hpcvlo:net.auto / godot!bradley / 7:51 am Jul 30, 1984*/ Older cars often have shatterproof glass, which is a layer of plastic sandwiched between two layers of glass (or the other way around) Instead of breaking into separate pieces when it, the glass gets cracks in it but holds together. The idea is that broken glass can't hurt you if it is not loose... ...but the layered glass and plastic definitely can hurt you because the large shards are still present and can cut you if you touch the broken window. /* ---------- */ This stuff also had the nice effect of closing around your neck once you stuck your head through the windshield in an accident (easy to do if you are not strapped in). It's better that the window just fall apart. Keith M. Taylor Corvallis, Oregon hplabs!hp-pcd!keith
