[ba.windows.x] BAXug

turner@llustig.uucp (D'arc Angel) (09/10/90)

I tried posting this from my machine at Sun, but it looks like it didn't
make it out, so if you've seen this before sorry,

I want to restart the long slumbering Bay Area X User's group, but before I
do so I'd like to get an informal survey so that I can better serve the
windowing community

1. Is anyone still interested in BAXug meetings? if yes, how often?

2. would you like to see an electronic newsletter?

3. should the group be expanded to include MS Windows 3.0? Macintosh
windows?

4. should we have seperate SIG's for Motif. OpenLook, MS Windows, etc.

5. what topics/speaker would you like to hear? suggestions? volunteers?

6. Sun has offered me meeting facilities, is this convient (I101 and
San Antonio in Mtn View)? when is the best day/time for the meetings?

If there is enough interest I will schedule the next meeting ASAP.

1. Yes, I am interested in the Bay Area X User's group. I started an
X windows users group here at Lawrence Livermore National Labs in
Livermore and have had a half dozen monthly meetings or so. We get about
20 to 30 people attending.

2. I would like to see an electronic newsletter contain info
about talks, conferences, etc. specific to the Bay Area.

3. No, I don't think we should include other window systems.

4. Yes, let's have separate SIG's.

6. Mtn View is not real convenient for me since I live in
Pleasanton and work in Livermore. How about scheduling the
meetings at various places around the Bay Area? Or maybe
organizing a South Bay Area and a North Bay Area X group? I
would be glad to help out, but I don't want to be in charge :-)
(Actually, I'm going to be moving to Hayward at the end of this
month, then going to Hawaii for three weeks in November, and then
there's Xmas so I pretty much won't be able to do anything for
the rest of the year :-( )
