Can someone enlighten me on a bit on Ghostscript? From what I've seen in various net postings, I gather it's a Postscript clone that's distributed by the Free Software Foundation. Some of the postings I've seen imply that it will run under MS-DOS. Assuming that much is true, where can I obtain a copy? What output devices are supported, Epson compatible dot matrix printers? Is the source distributed and is it compilable with Turbo C? Thanks, Jim Hunt jhunt@mipon2.intel.com

Some of the postings I've seen imply that it will run under MS-DOS. GhostScript is a PostScript clone as stated above. It implements the entire PostScript language (with one or two minor exceptions). It runs under X11 and a PC compatible with an EGA or VGA graphics adapter. Assuming that much is true, where can I obtain a copy? What output devices are supported, Epson compatible dot matrix printers? Is the source distributed and is it compilable with Turbo C? The latest release, version 1.1, should be out within the next couple of weeks. It will be made available in the FSF software repository, and I'll make it available on sun.soe.clarkson.edu for those who don't want to have to fight with ftping to mit. :-) Only output on a display is currently supported, although a printer driver shouldn't be too hard to write. Source is distributed with the package and compiles under Turbo C 2.0. -dg- Internet: dave@sun.soe.clarkson.edu or: dave@clutx.clarkson.edu BITNET: dave@CLUTX.Bitnet uucp: {rpics, gould}!clutx!dave Matrix: Dave Goldblatt @ 1:260/360 ICBM: 75 02 00W 44 38 12N
