Several people requested a summary of the responses I recieved regarding the fog on my Toyota windshield. The most popular cause for this was some reaction between plastics or vinyls in the dash or seat reacting with sunlight to put this film on the windshield. The consensus was there's not much you can do except avoid parking in the sun and clean the windshield when it gets dirty. Someone recommended using Armor-all (TM) and someone else said that would only make it worse. Some of the other explanations offered were: a leaky heater , oil from the AC system, fresh air collecting oil etc as it is pulled in from under the hood, moisture in the air vents, sitting too close to window, need to use recirculate rather than fresh air. The Toyota Service department suggested that it was due to mildew in the vents. They said to run recirculated (not fresh) air through it until the problem goes away. So there you have it. It appears to me that either the plastics or mildew in the vent (or both) is the cause. (The Toyota people didn't think it had anything to do with plastics in the dash). Thanks for the advice. C.R.
