<Line eater- snack time> I own a 1962 Rambler Classic Station Wagon, with a three speed on the column and push-in overdrive. My Problem: The overdrive went out a few weeks ago. I need: Either a GOOD! mechanic in the Denver area, or some help on fixing it myself (i.e., Shop manual, words of wisdom ect.) The overdrive activates when I'm above 35 mph in either 2nd or 3rd gear and I push in the overdrive shaft and release the gas for a moment. What happens now is, the gear doesn't seem to be engaging when I push the lever in. How does one adjust the overdrive? Is it mechanical or electrical? GENERAL COMMENT--It (the overdrive) doesn't seem to have anything to do with the cars regular clutch. I also need to know where parts can be had for such a beast. Its lasted me over 100,000 miles at a purchase price of $75 I'd like to see the car keep on going. If you have any suggestions or comments please send to me via the mail (before Friday) as that is my last day at this assignment and mail route. If you can't reply by Friday 8-31-84 please send information to me via U.S. Mail R. Greenquist 3498 So. Fairfax Denver, CO 80222 or call work - 303-538-4274 home - 303-691-2572 Thanks in advance. I've been running in three gears and the old car doesn't like the high RPMs. Sky King AT&T-IS "off we go hopefully in my Rambler"
