A letter to the editor of the Columbia (University) Daily Spectator:

"We strongly object to this misrepresentation of the rally and
further, we take issue with the word 'minority.' In our
opinion, and that of many others, 'minority' is a derogatory
term that connotes inferiority and wrongly identifies people
of color as a sub-unit within this society."

How about "differently-numbered?"

Attribute the joke's source if at all possible. A Daemon will auto-reply.

Remember: Always give your jokes a descriptive "Subject:" line.
So many people use "joke" or "submission" like I was expecting something else?

Administrative note:

Well, my notice that the cow-shooting story is reported in Mantle's
autobiography brought forward many people who wanted to say it is an
urban legend.

Perhaps, but an urban legend happens to a FOAF. (Friend of a Friend)
Both Mantle and Martin have claimed it happened to them, which means it
really did happen, or they are making it up -- a joke, not a legend.
Of course it could then become a legend after that. In fact, this is
probably how most urban legends develop -- a joke gets told as a true
story.

For coverage of urban legends, see Brunyand's books or alt.folklore.urban
