This is original. I have a new user on my system, and I was trying to teach him to use vi. He had the manual pages, but I suspected that he might have "skimmed" them, to put it politely. My suspicions were confirmed when I asked him, "Do you know the difference between the two modes of vi?" He replied, "Yeah. One beeps a lot and the other doesn't." -- Edited by Brad Templeton.
