[u3b.tech] Modula-2 compiler for 3B15

smcroft@sactoh0.UUCP (Steve M. Croft) (01/20/89)

California State University, Sacramento needs to get ahold of a Modula-2
compiler to run on a 3B15. Anyone know of one? An alternative might be
to get compiler source written in C or Pascal. Thanks!

A public domain Modula-2 compiler for the 3Bs was written at Brussels Free
U. in Belgium, and distributed by Olivetti. It comes with binary compiler
and source for the libraries. It is slow and somewhat buggy, but it works.
A compressed cpio archive of the compiler is available for anonymous FTP
from hotel.cis.ksu.edu (129.130.10.12) in pub/UNIX/m2c.3B.Z. Source for
the parser and code generator (generates assembly code which is given
to the Unix assembler) has made its way to the U.S., but I still have not
seen it. You can check with John Lengeling at Bradley. He has it:

	John Lengeling UUCP: {cepu,ihnp4,uiucdcs,noao}!bradley!john
	Bradley University	ARPA: cepu!bradley!john@seas.ucla.edu
	Text Processing ATTMAIL: attmail!bradley!john
	Bradley Hall Room 6F PHONE: (309) 677-2230
	Peoria, IL 61625

This compiler is also available from the u3g toolchest, for those of you
who have access to one of the u3g hubs.
