[net.auto] Aftermarket Saab manuals

jackh@zehntel.UUCP (jack hagerty) (09/27/84)

Several months back (around April) there were some requests on the
net for aftermarket manuals for the 900 series Saab (are you listening,
Gary?).

Well, I just received my 1985 catalog from Classic Motorbooks and they
list, as a new entry, a Haynes manual for the 900 (incl. turbo) 1979-
1983. The part number is S214A and it sells for 12.95 plus shipping.
CM has a toll free order number: (800) 826-6600.

As an aside, it seems that Saabs are on their way to replacing BMWs as
the car of choice among the YUMPs and YUPs, at least here in the SF Bay
Area (horrors!). Two years ago when I first planned to buy ours, you could
go all week and see maybe one or two on the roads, usually 99s. Now, I
see at least a dozen every day and they're all new and nearly all Turbos.
Similarly, a couple of years ago when I wanted to buy a marque history,
there were only two titles on the market: "From Two-Stroke to Turbo"
and "SAAB: the Innovator"; both enthusiast books. This copy of the
Motorbooks catalog lists no less than seven marque historys/anthologies
and eight service manuals!
