I am having a problem to set the ATT 2212C modem working correctly.
Here is what happend:
1. Set the 4 (hardware option) switches on the mode to OPEN.
2. Connect the modem to a terminal and phone line.
3. Connect a optional phone to the phone plug on the modem.
I had no problem in testing and dialup. I can also use the
optional phone plug to make phone calls. However, anyone try to call
me will have problem to get through. After the first the ring, they
will get a "bbbbb........bbbb....." sound.
I went back to change the 4th hardware option switch to CLOSE.
This time there are no problems with incoming and outgoing phone calls
and dialups. However, I cannot get the ":" prompt from the modem,
therefor I cannot use the "help" in the modem and other commands.
Could anyone who knows what the problem is give me some advices?
