I recently found an interesting solution to getting some spots off of my windshield. A few months ago a truck had dripped some chemicals that splattered onto my windshield leaving a lot of little white spots. Well, since I procrastinated about removing them, the summer sun really backed them on. My mechanic said that he'd asked a friend (who shows cars) about my problem, and he said to try using ULTRA-fine steel wool. Well, I couldn't find ultra-fine, but I did find super-fine, and I tried it a couple of weeks ago. I tried it, using a light, circular motion, and it seems to have worked quite well. This might not be good for everyone, but ask your dealer or mechanic, and see what they say. Jim Collymore

Please note that I meant to clarify in my previous article that this method of cleaning windows is ONLY for gunk on windows that doesn't come off with ordinary solvents. I don't recommend using this method (super-fine steel wool) as an everyday method of cleaning car windows! Jim Collymore
