[comp.windows.ms] need a clipboard-saver

andrea@hp-sdd.hp.com (Andrea K. Frankel) (03/04/89)

One of our managers requested a utility that would save the contents of
the clipboard to a file (as a Windows metafile, I presume?), and a
corresponding utility to be able to print those files.

He is already bopping back and forth between different applications
using the clipboard, and doesn't want to have to open an application
with a new file, paste in the clipboard, save the file, and re-run the
application later to print it.

Is there something available that would do this for him? Or does
someone have one written they would email me?

adTHANKSvance,

Scrapbook+ from TMaker will take the contents of the clipboard and allow you
to `export' it to a file. It will allow you to also put the contents of the
clipboard into a scrapbook (for clip-art like usage). You can also import
from a file and copy the image to the clipboard. It understands a number of
formats including .msp, .tif, .wmf, .eps. I believe its pretty cheap.
I haven't seen it advertised much, though. Here's the companies address:
	T/Maker
	1973 Landings Dr
	Mountain View, Ca 94043

Another product that will do what you want is Easel. Its shareware (I beleive,
forgive me if I am in error). There is a `commercial' version that has more
features. Its also pretty cheap ($40 for the whole thimg). You can contact
them at:
        Synergistic Enterprises
        8033 Sunset Blvd., #975
        Los Angeles, CA 90046

I have no affiliation with either company other than being an occasional
user of both.

If you have a development kit, Petzold (author of Programming Windows) provides
such a utility. It allows you to save the clipboard contents (and print it,
I think) using several formats.
