Here I am running Windows 386 2.1 (4mb memory on a Zenith 386/16, with Command Post). I startup PC/Intercomm, a standard apps comm program, and dial into my work UNIX host. I set that window aside (shrink it) and open another window running VI (the standard apps screen editor from MKS). The VI window opens, stares at me for a second and then all of Windows dies and I get dumped back into the DOS prompt without any messages or anything. It is quite reproducible. Any clues ? ...for what it's worth, MKS vi doesn't run very well (i.e. not at all) in the DOS box of OS/2 1.10 (SDK 1.06). I imagine this is related to the funny business that vi contains to simulate bsd job control without actually having an operating system (this is why I now run OS/2, and will buy MKS protected-mode vi just as soon as I can come up with the money). In other words, good luck. :-| -Jim Hickstein jxh@cup.portal.com ...!sun!portal!cup.portal.com!jxh
