Hello. I am having absolutely no luck trying to get Terminal.Exe to communicate with my modem. I have a Samsung AT compatible, fully Hayes compatible modem that works perfectly with Procomm, and a line in win.ini that goes something like 'COM2 := 2400,N,P,1'. Would anyone know what I am doing wrong? By the way, is Terminal even worth all the hassle? Thanks in advance, Milan. mms00786@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu

Whoops, bad note! Modem is hooked up to Com2, is 2400 baud, and terminal gives a message saying "Cannot communicate with modem". Thanks again.

I found the only way to make Terminal.exe recongnize the modem is get rid of the phone number in your setting first. Then when you run 'Connect', the program will tell you that there is no phone number to dial and that whether you want to continue. You just say 'yes', and manually dial the number, i.e., 'ATDTxxx-xxxx' then the program will work. But this is just too much hassle as you said, so I decided to use ProComm instead. Ron

I had the same problem until I tried adding the hayes commands to the telephone number ie atdt 222-2222. It seems that the terminal simply sends the number to the modem. You might also add any init commands necessary. Hope this helps.
