[comp.windows.ms] Windows 3.0?

misko@abhg.UUCP (William Miskovetz) (05/14/89)

In a recent issue of Infoworld, there was an article that stated that
900 hardware and software developers have received prerelease versions
of Microsoft Windows 3.0. This version is suppose to run in 286 and 386
protected mode. I know as a windows developer, I didn't get this version.
Does anyone know anything about this? I called Microsoft, but their sales
line claimed no knowledge of this release. Has anyone gotten this version
that cares to admit it? Anyone know how I can get on this preferred list
of developers who get these early releases? Thanks for any info.

I received a letter in the mail from MicroSoft asking if I wanted
to be part of the pre-release Windows information. I do not know why they
sent this information to me an not to other people (maybe it was all those
letters pointing out mistakes in their documentation). The only requirments
were (I think) signing a non-disclosure document and that you must be on
DIAL/ONLINE. I would loved to get the pre-release information, but can not
justify paying for DIAL. I will get the information from home and see what
it says. I have been meaning to abuse Microsoft for that expensive DIAL
junk.

I seem to remember the letter saying that the next version, would manage
memory in a different manner. I will check.
