Are you *SURE* this person was using Mobil One? Mobil One has never had
graphite in it. It sounds like you are describing an oil called "Arco
Graphite". This oil had very small graphite particles in it, and there
were also commercials in magazines and on T.V. about it. I have heard
some bad "rumours" about Arco Graphite, but since I have no personal ex-
perience with it, I don't know if the rumours are true or not. But Mobil
One has definitely *NEVER* had graphite in it....

I own a 1979 Pontiac LeMans with the 3.8 litre V6 engine. I used
Arco Graphite oil for more than 30K miles (as long as I could get
it). I now have 56K miles on the car and it has learned a new
trick. This weekend, the oil pressure light started coming on
when I came to a stop with the car in gear. Since my brother-in-law
is a better machinic than I am, and he has all the equipment, I am
going to have him tear it down as soon as possible. I am interested
in seeing what the bearings look like and will try to determine if
the oil might have been responsible (may not be possible). I'll
report anything unusual that might be traced to the oil.
