OUTLINE CHARTER FOR COMP.OS.OS2 =============================== The intent of COMP.OS.OS2 is to provide OS/2 developers and users with OS/2 specific information without having to search through other newsgroups where much of the material is irrelevant. COMP.OS.OS2 shall have worldwide distribution and is UNmoderated. COMP.OS.OS2 - netnews forum dedicated to MS-OS/2 and IBM OS/2 (all versions). Available for sharing information about these environments, new product information, public domain software, questions and answers, bug reports, development environments, etc. Initially this group could cover Database Manager, Communications Manager, LAN Manager & LAN Server, Application Manager, Presentation Manager, SQL server etc, until traffic volume makes this undesirable (if ever...). SUMMARY OF THE DISCUSSION ========================= I posted a call for DISCUSSION to create COMP.SYS.OS2 around Aug-21st-89. I had hoped to post this call for votes on September 4th, excuse the delay. Due to subsequent postings/email to me, I agree to call the newsgroup COMP.OS.OS2 with the same charter, but starting with a SINGLE newsgroup initially (i.e no separate subgroups until they become necessary). Thanks to all those who posted comments or emailed replies to me. Here is a quick summary of the DISCUSSION postings/replies to the original proposal so far: - the os/2 newsgroup should be called COMP.OS.OS2 - the newsgroup should certainly be created - there is no current need for sub groups for binaries, sources - sub groups for binaries, sources could be added when needed - a binaries subgroup if/when created, should be moderated END OF NOTE -- -mike (mor@datlog.co.uk).
