Here's the story: IBM PS/2 55sx (the one with the 16MHz 386sx chip), VGA, 60MB
hard disk, 2MB ram. After being pissed off that Win386 couldn't do anything
on my Compaq 386 (only 1MB ram), I tried it on the 55sx. Well, Windows 386
doesn't like DOS 4.0!!! I would have gone ahead and dropped back to 3.3
(4.0 really isn't all that wonderful), except using 4.0 is the only way to
format the hard disk as a single volume.
When I run Win386, it dumps back to DOS with the message "Unsupported DOS
version". Any suggestions? Thanx for your help!

I'd suggest getting a newer version of WIN386. I just got my new ps2 70, which
came with Windows/386 installed, and it worked fabulously with DOS 4.0. The
version reported by Windows is 2.17.
You might want to contact microsoft and complain a bit. (At least enough to
get an update.) Assuming you just got Windows/386 when you got the machine,
you can't have had it that long...
