[comp.windows.ms] >64k memory segments in Windows/386

jobrien@nixbur.UUCP (John O'Brien) (11/29/89)

Is it possible to write programs that use data and code segments larger
than 64K under Windows/386? This assumes I am using a compiler that
generates 386 opcodes. Do I need to use a DOS extender? Will Windows
do any memory management (ie paging/swapping between disk and RAM) on
such a segment of memory? Is there another source of information besides
the Windows software development kit?

			Thanks in advance,
