[net.auto] Synthetic Oils/Pennzoil in Mazda Rotary

(The piston engine goes: boing, boing, boing...)

I've had several people ask me why I don't use Pennzoil motor oil in
my Mazda rotary. About 5 or 6 years ago I read an article about Mazda's
motor oil recomendations and how they recomended oil with a low ash count.
Well, Pennzoil had a rather high ash count (I don't remember if it was just
under or over the maximum limit) so I switched from Pennzoil to Castrol GTX.
As I recall the possible problems with high ash content oils is that they
could foul up the oil injection system and possibly gum up the apex seals,
I've never heard of this happening though.

myself but I'm told they can be very effective."
