<> I own a 1974 Cutlass with a sticky problem. Maybe someone on the net can help. In the last year (maybe 2 yrs) the vinyl on the dash and steering wheel has gotten 'sticky'. I've used denatured alcohol, upholstery cleaner, and various liquid cleaners (Windex, 409, etc). None of these seem to do much. At first, I accused my wife of eating ice cream in the car and causing this mess {;-)}, but when it didn't cleanup, I knew it was not normal dirt. It looks almost as though the vinyl is exuding some form of 'oil' (no, no, no, not 10W30). It is VERY sticky and annoying when it is on the wheel. Nothing may be put on the dash, since it will stick. The vinyl hasn't changed in appearance (at least that I can tell), and doesn't appear to be breaking down. HELP! Any (reasonable) suggestions would be appreciated. Try armour coat. That removes a lot of stuff. Also try acetone, but just do a little spot first in case it stains.
