In <some unknown recent posting> <somebody> asked for help in convincing the Windows 3.0 Application Setup to search all of the disks on the system. It's either undocumented, or documented where I didn't read, but the Windows Setup process which searches for applications to add to the Windows and non-Windows icon pages looks only a disks which are referred to in the current PATH. I found that because my system has a 120 MB drive partitioned into C/D/E/F; when I installed the release version of Windows the application setup program looked only at the C: and D: drives. A bit of experimenting found that setting the PATH variable to the root directories of every partition caused the appliction setup program to look everywhere. Incidentally, the application setup program can be made to look at mountable media as well as fixed disks by including the drive in the PATH. Turns out, however, that someone at Microsoft was smart and puts up a warning billboard (which can be ignored) if you do this. (Hint to Microsoft: how about a user exit so that I can invoke my MOUNT process if a mountable application icon is clicked?)
