Hello. Thanks to everybody who replied to my question regarding my floppy disk problem while installing ToolBook. (The setup program wouldn't recognize that I placed the second source disk in the drive.) I got two types of replies: 1) People said that my floppy drive and/or controller doesn't properly handle the change line signal. The fix for this is to place drivparm = /d:1 (the example is for drive B:) into the config.sys file. This drivparm line overrides DOS' assumptions about the floppy disk system. Because the /c switch for drivparm is *not* specified, DOS no longer relies on the change line. (Check your DOS manuals for details. pp. 287-288 in my DOS 4.0 manual). 2) The other replies I got said the problem had to do with SHARE.EXE, and that this file should be renamed to something else during the installation process. Now, because (1) above fixed the problem and having to rename SHARE sounds pretty hokey to me (figures the people at Microsoft would come up with something like that), I didn't try this fix, but I guess it has worked for other people. On a different note... A while ago, someone posted a way to bypass the warning Windows issues when starting an older Windows application. At the time I wasn't able to save that message, but I sure could use it now. Could someone please send me a copy? Thanks. Wolf Witt wwitt@adara.intel.com wwitt@smdvx1.UUCP witt@ucsee.berkeley.edu
