Has anyone encountered problems running 'Real Sound' games from Access Software such as World Class Leader Board under Win 3.0? Specifically, 'screeching' during the digitized sounds, e.g. introductory birds, clubs hitting the ball, frogs, 'safely on the fairway' messages, etc. These garbled parts seem to last longer than their unscrambled counterparts. The program seems to otherwise perform OK. The game is being launched from a PIF. I am running in 386 enhanced mode. I also tried to launch through the 'Run...' command in the File section of the Program Manager and through the File Manager with the same results. Fiddling with the 386 Options in the control panel to give maximum priority didn't seem to help. Any recommendations appreciated. Also, while I'm thinking about it, can paintbrush handle 640 x 480 x 256 color PCX files? I would like to use a file of this type for the desktop as the wallpaper. It doesn't seem to have any problem with 640 x 480 x 16 color PCX's. I am converting these pictures from 256 color GIF's using vpic27. From paintbrush, I would like to save them as BMP files to use for said wallpaper. This thinking perhaps follows a previous discussion of direct conversion of GIF's to BMP files. It was suggested that conversion of GIF's to Microsoft Paint files (MSP) could be accomplished through the commercial product, HIJAACK. Paintbrush then could save MSP's as BMP's, etc., etc. Any alternatives or less expensive (i.e. PD) solutions? Please excuse any breach of netiquette as I post about as often as encumbents involuntarily give up their offices.
