[comp.windows.ms] Terminal for Win 3 - problems

Windows 3 - Terminal

Has anyone tried the new Terminal program in Win 3. It looked quite promising
with VT100 support and Kermit, but when I tried it to our VAX, it seemed to work
ok until I used our News program. The normal characters looked like they were
being received with the 8th bit set. It didn't make much sense.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't had that problem, but I have had another...

When I try to dial out to a service it connects fine but it never displays
anything on the text window. Nothing at all! I have tried everything that
I can think of to fix the problem and hav not figured it out yet. Any help
would be appreciated.

Several people complained about Terminal in Win3.0. I have a problem
with it as well.
I used X-Modem to receive some files from SUN. It worked fine.
The problem started when I tried to send a file from PC to SUN.
I started the receiving task on SUN (it gave me information that
I could start the transmission), and selected binary send from
the menu. After a short while I got the message about retransmission,
and finaly the communication was aborted.
What migt have gone wrong? The setup was identical to the one with
which I was receiving data without problems?

Any advice, explanation, etc., up there?

Yup, I have seem problems like those mentioned in this subdiscussion.
Screen displays sometimes messed up (on 12MHz 286 with VGA).
I can only conclude that Terminal is character dropping, but I find
this really hard to believe in this day and age!
