Has anyone else experienced problems with the terminal program that comes with Windows 3.0? The most annoying problem is the word wrap function. Most terminals will wrap the line around when the cursor gets to position 80. The MSW terminal program has an option to enable word-wrap or disable word-wrap. With it enabled (default) the emulator will insert a blank line when it wraps the line around. You can imagine the havoc this plays when you are using 'vi'. With word wrap disabled, no lines are inserted but any lines that are over 80 characters (such as /etc/passwd) are not displayed after position 80. The second problem involves the show xmodem transfer speed at 9600 bps. This isn't a big problem since I don't xmodem much, but nonethless is one quarter of the speed of my other comm. programs. Finally is there a way to get the terminal program to send a shorter break signal. Our data switch uses break as an attention signal to start new sessions or break out of existing sessions. Sometimes you need to issue 2 breaks in a row. The terminal won't send them fast enough for the switch to accept them as a double break instead of two single breaks Has anyone else had these problems and are there any fixes in the works? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lawrence Roney - Santa Monica College Telecommunications Department N6YFN 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405-1628 Mail UUCP: uunet!ucla-cs!smcnet!lawrence Internet: lawrence@smc.edu
