[comp.windows.ms] The Big Advertisment Section in PC Magazine

rogerson@PEDEV.Columbia.NCR.COM (Dale Rogerson) (06/14/90)

I was reading the special Windows advertising section in PC
Magazine and noticed some interesting things.

First, Micrografx did not have an ad in this issue. This was
one of the first companies to release a Windows-based product.

Second, Borland had an ad promising to supply Windows and OS/2
versions of their programs in the future. They specifically mention
	C++ in this article.

Third, Lotus had an ad but only an OS/2 spreadsheet.

Does anyone know who arranged for this big ad? Microsoft or a
group of Windows developers? Looking through these ads one would
not really think that there is such a dearth of Windows software.
Now if we could get "Quick" versions of all those high end applications
	that Microsoft sells...
My manager was looking for software to do the following jobs:
word processing (Ami, Word for Windows)
			database	(SQLWindows, Superbase)
Project Managers (MS Project, and others)
			Presentations (MS Point(?), Graph)
			Graphs (Micrografx Graph)
SpreadSheets	(MS Excel, Wingz, 1-2-3 Clone)
			Drawing (Corel Draw, Designer)
			Flow Charts	(ABC Flowcharter)
These are just the ones that I remeber off the top of my head.
Of these packages Ami, WfW, Project, Ecvel, Corel Draw,
Designer, and Graph have all gotten fantastic reviews and
are some of the best in their catagories.
