I am thinking about purchasing a non-turbo Chrysler Lazer and would appreciate user comments on mechanical reliability of the fuel injected 2.2L, warranty problems, unexpected handling "features", etc. Thanks much, Dave Maguire tektronix!tekecs!davem

[] I would be very interested in knowing the differences between the Laser you describe (2.2l non-turbo) and the Charger Shelby. I have seen the two parked close to one another in a lot and was amazed at the similarity in appearance. THey have the same aluminum wheels, same taillights, same body shape, and very similar front end. What I am wondering is: what is the price difference? The charger is a low-end chrysler in its unadorned format; I assume the Shelby is much more expensive. However, I would be dissapointed to buy a Laser (fancy sports car) only to find that the "same" car is available as an "optioned-up" low-end car. Comments?

The Laser is a considerably different car, starting with a mych nicer body shape. It also has a changed suspension, a reasonable interior (Charger/Omni/Horizon interior is one of the worst small-car interiors I've seenn. The seats are anatomically contoured for plywood boxes, and the dash --- dash? You call that a dash?). Alas, the Laser also comes with 195/60-15 Eagle GTs instead of the 195/50-15s found on the Shelby. If you're an aficionado, I don't have to explain why you'd prefer the second alternative...
