I remember, back in the heyday of the "my-multitasker-is-better-than-your- multitasker" flame wars, that one argument for the superiority of Windows was its ability to save SVGA screens. WELL... When I run an application in 640x400x256 and try to switch back to Windows, the screen becomes unreadable; I have to guess where the application I just switched out of was so I can get back to it and leave the SVGA mode. Furthermore, when I run a program in 320x200x256 mode, some of it has been garbled when I switch back. Any ideas? I'm running in 386 extended mode. -- Jason Merrill jmerrill@jarthur.claremont.edu

Hey, Windows 3.0 can garble even text-mode apps. When I run Norton Commander in full-screen, switch out with Alt-Esc, and switch back, the character set has been somewhat trashed (random pixels changed). This DOESN'T happen in Telix, though. It's not that big a deal since I have a program I wrote that calls int 10h to reset text mode, but I'd like to know if there's a better fix.
