[comp.windows.ms] Win3.0 Enhanced/Lantastic & Misc

bwb@sei.cmu.edu (Bruce Benson) (06/17/90)

Has anyone gotten Lantastic to run under Win3.0 enhanced mode? It works
fine under standard and real.

The network is OK until Win goes enhanced (running on the server) then no
other machine can access the server even after exiting Windows.

Using EMMExclude made no difference (I got the memory map from my old 386max
configuration) and using NetDMASize=32 causes the server to lockup when
another machine tries to access it (this actually seems promising...).

On another subject, I've seen references on how to run win 2.x programs
under win3.0. Some folks were keeping their old win2.x system on disk and
others were using pif files with command lines prefixed by win/r. My solution:

Using Properties (example uses Q+E database viewer)
  Command Line: c:\win\win.com QE.EXE
Change Icon
  File Name: QE.EXE

This way the old ICON is still used and win3.0 comes up in real mode when
invoked under windows. This solution would be perfect if I could get
windows to exit when I exit the application. Seems win2.x had a way of doing
this (something about the use of colons in the command line :win: app.exe).

Ideas are solicitied.
