There are two 486 machines in our office, one was installed with IBM OS/2 SE 1.2 with dual boot mode. I tried to install Windows 3.0 on it, it mentioned about OS/2. The problem was that I could not get 386 enhanced mode on that machine (there was no problem on the other 486, it did show 386 enhanced mode). I ran the setup and Windows all in DOS boot mode (not in DOS compatible mode under OS/2). I tried to use Win/3, it just crashed on me! Does any one have similar experience? The other problem occured in installing Windows on an XT clone. It has Taxan Advanced EGA card with NEC Multisync monitor. We didn't have any problem in running EGA color mode in Windows/286 2.1. But we could only make it run Windows 3.0 in EGA black and white mode. We tried to use Windows setup inside the Windows to change it to EGA, but it just showed the Windows logo (in blue and white, correct colors) and then hang up. How comes it just worked with EGA black and white (286 only)? We did try to follow every words from Windows manual to CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT but in vain... Any help will be greatly appreciated....
