After some trial and error and some calls to MS, I determined that something in the hardware of the Compaq 386/20 is causing the "COM1 busy release error" . I tried the COM1base and the COMM program posted here earlier. Nothing appears to work. The MS person said this is the first time he heard of it and knew the product worked with a variety of other Compaqs. I am running PC-NFS along with Windows. Any help would be appreciated.
